Frequently Asked Questions
Are alteration costs included in the price of my gown?
No. The price of your gown covers the gown only. Alterations are a separate service and require a separate appointment.
Your gown must be completely paid off in order for alterations to begin.
Can you provide an estimate for altering my wedding or evening gown?
Only our alterations team can provide an accurate quote. You’ll need to schedule a (free) consultation as alteration fees vary depending on the scope of work.
All pricing is transparently outlined before we begin, and while we’re meticulous in our craft, any requests beyond the initial scope may affect both cost and timeline.
What should I bring to my alterations appointment?
Please bring the exact shoes and undergarments you intend to wear on the day of your event. These are essential for an accurate fit.
What if I haven’t selected my event shoes yet?
We strongly suggest waiting to schedule your appointment until you’ve chosen your shoes. Gowns are hemmed to shoe height, and changing footwear later can affect the length and fit of your gown resulting in additional alteration fees.
What to expect during my alterations appointment?
You’ll meet with our alterations team, try on your gown, and discuss the changes you’d like. The team will mark adjustments and provide a quote.
Payment for alteration services is required at the time of your first appointment.
Are there any additional fees I should be aware of?
Yes. Any bridal alterations done within 45 days of the event will incur a rush fee of $200.
Any evening gown alterations done within 30 days of your event will incur a rush fee of $100.
Do you alter gowns purchased outside of House of Brides?
Yes, we do offer alterations on gowns not purchased from us.
How much time should I allow for alterations?
Bridal alterations can take anywhere from 2–4 appointments. Appointments are spaced roughly one month apart.
Please note that once the final alterations appointment is complete, we cannot be held responsible for any changes in the bride’s measurements. While we will do our best to accommodate any necessary adjustments, additional adjustments will be quoted and charged separately.
When can I schedule a bridal gown alteration appointment?
Bridal appointments are available on Wednesdays only.
When can I schedule an evening gown alteration appointment?
Evening gown appointments are held on Thursdays only.
